HUMAN RIGHTS AND SECURITY
To date, child soldiering has primarily been viewed as a human rights problem. CSI supports this view, but places a special emphasis on the serious security dimension of the problem. The use of child soldiers is prolonging and fueling conflicts, across regions. A failure to address recruitment and re-recruitment threatens the long term stability of countries and whole regions.
MULTI-DISCIPLINARY AND COLLABORATIVE
CSI is working to include actors from as many sectors as possible in the development of tools to build the capacity of all stakeholders to respond during a conflict.
Key actors include, but are not restricted to, members of the military, police, UN, humanitarian, government, human rights and legal sectors, as well as civil society and host country communities.
GROUNDED IN RESEARCH
Through close work and regular consultation with international academic partners and experienced practitioners, all CSI tools and materials are developed following rigorous academic research and field trials in conflict and post-conflict zones.
